romanticising and resetting your life this spring
There’s something about the first little signs of spring that makes me want to reset my life a bit. The mornings feel lighter, the air smells a little fresher and suddenly I’m craving that feeling of opening the windows, cleaning my space and taking a deep breath after a long winter.
Spring always feels like a gentle invitation to start again. Not in a dramatic “new year, new me” way, but in a soft, slow way that focuses on taking care of yourself and your space. If winter is all about comfort and hibernation, spring feels like stretching after a long nap. So if you’re feeling that little urge to refresh your routines, here are some cosy self-care ideas for spring.
Get some fresh air in your house.
This might sound like such a small thing, but opening the windows after winter is one of the nicest little resets. Fresh air instantly changes the feeling of a space. It makes everything feel lighter and less stagnant, like your home can breathe again.Bonus points if you put on a playlist and have a little tidy while the air flows through the house.
Have a gentle spring clean.
Not a huge overwhelming deep clean, just small resets. Things like:
• changing your bedsheets
• clearing a cluttered surface
• washing your makeup brushes
• reorganising a drawer that’s been driving you mad
Little changes can make your space feel calmer and more supportive.
Start spending more time outside.
Spring is the perfect time to slowly start reconnecting with the outdoors again. The nights start to get lighter, the mornings aren’t as dreadful. It’s the perfect time to start spending some more time inside, even if it’s only for fifteen minutes or so. I find that some time in nature really helps shift my mood, especially after the dreary English weather we’ve been having recently.
It doesn’t have to be anything huge. It could be something as simple as taking a walk listening to a podcast / playlist, enjoying your morning coffee in the garden or putting the washing out (weather permitting of course). I’ve got a little garden reset on my to do list and I’m so excited to make my garden all cosy again and maybe even plant some lil herbs!
Refresh your evening routine.
Winter evenings are very cosy (blankets, comfort food, hibernation mode), but spring can be a lovely time to slightly refresh your routine. It doesn’t have to be a huge overhaul but maybe making some time to go for a little evening walk or reading for a little bit rather than scrolling. These little seasonal changes can make a huge difference.
Bring spring inside.
You don’t need to redecorate your entire house to shift the mood of a space. Sometimes it’s just about adding small touches that make things feel fresh again. This could look like getting a new bedding set, a spring scented candles and some fresh flowers.
These little seasonal changes can really have such a huge impact on your mood. I actually did my little spring room refresh a few weeks ago. I got a new vanilla citrus candle, some fresh flowers and a cute gingham bedding set! It really is the little things.
Romanticise the small moments.
Spring is such a good season for slowing down and noticing the little things again. The first warm afternoon. Birds in the morning. Longer evenings. Sunlight coming through the windows. Allow yourself to really enjoy these little changes. One idea I love for doing this is creating a little spring bingo card with some cute activities to do during this season. I’m thinking gardening, baking, strawberry picking – just little spring activities that can help fill your cup.
Spring always reminds me that life doesn’t have to be completely reinvented to feel better. Sometimes all it takes is a few small resets, a bit of fresh air and a little more kindness towards yourself. So open the windows, take things slowly and let this season be a gentle fresh start.
Love ya, Cait xo
