creating joy: the shift from consumption to creation
Let’s get nostalgic for a minute, remember when you were younger and you’d sit for hours making a little beaded bracelet or cutting out the photos in a magazine to make a collage or making perfume from the roses in your Nan’s garden. No pressure for it to be perfect, no necessity for it to be profitable, just creating something for the sake of creating something. Isn’t it sad that we lost that? Somewhere in the world of social media, we became so much more concerned with consuming over creating.
I’m not trying to preach to anyone here, I love a good TikTok doom scroll as much as the next gal. But, it does seem sad to me that some of us lost that spark to create. I’m really trying to be intentional with the time I spend consuming this year. Not only the type of content that I watch but also the amount of time I spend watching it. So, today I’d like to share some ideas of how you can start creating rather than constantly consuming.
