the soft life system: how I organise my life without overwhelming myself

There was a point where my life felt like one big, tangled to-do list. Everything lived in the same mental space — bills, skincare, goals, random ideas, things I should be doing, things I wanted to be doing… and none of it really felt clear. I wasn’t lacking motivation, I was lacking structure that actually made sense for me. So instead of trying to “get my life together” all at once, I did something softer.

I split my life into sections. Not in a strict, corporate, colour-coded way — but in a way that feels intuitive, gentle, and a little bit like building your own world. This is the system I landed on.

FOUNDATIONS

(the things that quietly hold everything else together)

This is my baseline. The non-negotiables. The part of my life that keeps me steady, even when everything else feels a bit chaotic.

  • Reset: this is where I come back to myself. My self-care, my mental resets, clearing my space, sorting my phone, doing the things that make me feel like me again.
  • Finances: budgets, bills, savings, all the practical things that give me peace of mind (even if they’re not the most exciting).
  • Alignment: who I’m becoming. My goals, my standards, the version of me I’m actively stepping into.

If Foundations feel off, everything else does too — so this is always where I return first.

ENERGY

(how I actually feel day to day)

This section is less about perfection and more about support.

  • Fitness: movement, workouts, tracking my progress in a way that feels encouraging — not punishing.
  • Health: food shopping, simple recipes, keeping track of what I already have, and making eating feel easy instead of overwhelming.

It’s not about doing everything “right” — it’s about giving myself the energy to live my life properly.

GROWTH

(where I build my future, slowly but intentionally)

This is the part of my life that reminds me I’m allowed to want more.

  • Career: training, development, small steps that move me forward.
  • Content: my side of creativity — planning ideas, mapping out content, building something that feels like mine.

Growth doesn’t have to be intense. It can be quiet, consistent, and still powerful.

JOY

(the reason I’m doing all of this in the first place)

This section matters more than I used to let it.

  • Social: plans, birthdays, things to look forward to — even if it’s just one thing a month.
  • Hobbies: reading, films, little trackers that make life feel cosy and full.
  • Spirituality: affirmations, scripting, tarot — anything that helps me feel connected to myself and something bigger.

Joy isn’t a reward. It’s part of the routine.

AESTHETIC

(how my life looks and feels around me)

This is where everything becomes a bit more me.

  • Style: outfit inspo, wishlists, wardrobe tracking — building a look that feels aligned.
  • Space: my room, my environment, what I want to add, what I want to let go of.
  • Self-care: product inventories, routines, the little rituals that make everyday life feel softer.

It’s not about being perfect — it’s about creating an environment that supports the life I’m building.

EXPANSION

(the part of me that refuses to stay small)

This is where I let myself dream a bit.

  • Adventure: travel plans, wishlists, places I want to see, experiences I want to have.
  • Curriculum: my personal learning — the things I want to understand, explore, and grow through, in my own time, in my own way.

Expansion reminds me that life isn’t just about maintaining — it’s about evolving.

why this actually works

Splitting my life into sections didn’t make me “perfectly organised”.

But it gave everything a home.

It stopped me from feeling like I was failing at everything all at once — because I could actually see what needed attention, and what was already working.

Some weeks I lean into Foundations.
Some weeks I focus on Joy.
Some weeks it’s just about Energy and getting through.

And that’s the point.

This isn’t about controlling your life — it’s about understanding it.

make it your own

If you try this, don’t copy mine exactly.

Rename things.
Merge sections.
Add something that feels completely random but very you.

Your life doesn’t need to fit into a system — the system should fit around your life.

Think of it less like organising…
and more like curating the way you live.

A soft structure.
A gentle reset.
A life that actually feels like yours.
